The Technical Engineering College in Najaf at the Middle Euphrates Technical University discussed the master’s thesis titled “Reconfigurable Antenna Design for 5G Applications.” The thesis, presented by the student (Zainab Hamza Makth) from the Department of Communication Engineering Technology at the college, aims to analyze and design reconfigurable antennas for 5G applications. The thesis explores reconfigurable antennas targeting the distant regions in the Sub6_GHz and MM_wave frequency bands of the 5G spectrum. Reconfiguration was achieved by placing a PIN diode between the radiating elements. Two types of PIN diodes were used according to the frequency regions. Various types of diodes were also tested to identify the diode providing the best response in the targeted areas. Several designs are proposed to implement this idea. The study concluded that the results of the proposed antennas are suitable for 5G applications.
