A doctoral thesis at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discusses an experimental and theoretical study on reducing energy consumption in central air conditioning systems using a heat exchanger in a closed loop.

A doctoral thesis was discussed at the Engineering Technical College in Najaf, part of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, titled “Energy Efficient in HVAC System via Indirect Evaporative Cooling Integrated with Heat Pipe Heat Exchanger: Experimental and Numerical Study.”

The thesis, submitted by the student Zahraa Abbas Faisal from the Department of Mechanical Power Engineering Techniques, was supervised by the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Techniques, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulaziz Aidan.

The researcher conducted both experimental and theoretical studies aimed at reducing energy consumption in central air conditioning systems using a heat exchanger in a closed loop (Heat Pipe Heat Exchanger). The performance was significantly improved by lowering the inlet air temperature to the system. A prototype was manufactured to test the system under harsh conditions simulating the climate of the Middle East.

Additionally, the system was designed and simulated using the Ansys Fluent software.
