A master’s thesis at the Engineering Technical College in Najaf, part of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, titled
“Visible Light Communication Based on Different Modulation Techniques for 6G Networks”,
was presented by researcher Zainab Kazem Saeed from the Department of Communication Engineering Technologies.
The thesis explores hybrid optical communication systems (MIMO-FSO/FO) as an innovative solution to meet the growing demand for high-capacity data transmission, especially under the challenges posed by varying atmospheric conditions.
The study aims to enhance communication reliability in 5G networks by integrating Free Space Optical (FSO) communication with fiber optics. High signal quality was achieved, with a signal-to-noise ratio reaching 48 dB when using the CSRZ modulation technique under ideal conditions. The use of different pulse generators, such as the saw-up pulse generator, also improved signal quality, achieving 47 dB.
MIMO technology helped reduce atmospheric turbulence effects, leading to more stable and reliable communication. The hybrid system also extended the transmission range, ensuring effective communication even in harsh weather conditions.
This research demonstrates significant potential for improving future communication systems and supports advanced applications such as smart cities and autonomous vehicles.
