The Technical Engineering College in Najaf, affiliated with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a scientific course titled:
“Cancer Cell Detection Using Machine Learning Algorithms.”
The course was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Alyaa Abdul-Hussein Lutfah from the Department of Power Mechanics Engineering Technologies. It began with a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning, along with an explanation of the relationships between these fields and the most prominent machine learning algorithms used today.
A practical application was demonstrated during the course, focusing on the detection of brain cancer cells. The algorithm was trained on a dataset of medical images and achieved a high classification accuracy of 99.5% on some of the tested images. This result reflects the efficiency of the model and its potential to support accurate and effective medical diagnosis.
This course aligns with the college’s ongoing efforts to disseminate knowledge and enhance skills in artificial intelligence technologies, contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and supporting advanced medical diagnostic practices.
