The Technical Engineering College in Najaf, affiliated with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, in collaboration with the Department of Aviation Engineering Technologies, organized a scientific seminar titled: “Advanced Polymers in Aerospace Applications.”
The seminar, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Adhwaa Mohammed from the Department of Aviation Engineering Technologies, focused on the importance of these revolutionary materials in advancing modern space technologies.
The session covered advanced polymers such as PEEK, PEI, CELAZOLE, CFRP, and Epoxy, highlighting their significant role in enhancing the performance of spacecraft. These materials are lightweight, which helps reduce the overall weight of space vehicles and increases fuel efficiency. Additionally, they possess high thermal resistance, making them ideal for harsh space environments.
The seminar also discussed the design flexibility of polymers, which allows engineers to create complex structures that meet the diverse needs of space projects. Furthermore, the role of polymers in providing electrical insulation and protecting sensitive components from environmental factors was emphasized.
Practical applications of advanced polymers were showcased, including their use in spacecraft exteriors, as well as in the production of insulators and sealing materials.
