The Technical Engineering College of Najaf at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University held an awareness seminar entitled:
“Electronic Blackmail and Ways to Prevent It,”
as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance digital security awareness among students and college staff.
The seminar featured an introductory lecture delivered by Colonel Engineer Alaa Hashim Salman Al-Mayali, Director of the Technologies and Informatics Department in Najaf, in which he addressed the concept of electronic blackmail, its main methods, and its psychological and social effects, as well as the legal and technical means of prevention and the proper ways to deal with similar cases.
Lectures were also delivered by Chief Media Observer Amir Mansour Diaa Al-Shammari, and Captain Mohammed Abbas Joudah Al-Muhanna, who reviewed the role of the media in raising awareness of the dangers of cybercrimes and ways to reduce them. Chief Media Observer Bashar Nu’man Abdul Amir Al-Habboubi participated as the seminar coordinator, contributing to organizing its themes and managing its sessions.
This seminar comes as part of the college’s activities aimed at promoting a safe digital culture and strengthening partnership with security and media institutions, in a way that contributes to protecting the university community from the risks of electronic blackmail.
