The Government Program Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the Technical Engineering College of Najaf, part of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized a course titled “Risk Management and Emergency Response.”
The course was delivered by Dr. Adhwaa Mohammed Abdul-Majid and Assistant Lecturer Israa Saad Abdul-Zahra, covering several key topics, with a primary focus on Dangerous Goods on Aircraft.
The course aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle hazardous materials in compliance with civil aviation regulations, such as those of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Key topics included:
- Understanding Dangerous Goods: Classification of hazardous materials according to IATA DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations).
- Labeling and Marking: Learning how to properly mark and label shipments of hazardous materials.
- Documentation and Authorization: Mastering the preparation of essential documents, such as the Shipper’s Declaration.
- Handling and Storage Procedures: Ensuring the safe handling of these materials at airports and onboard aircraft.
